Frequently Asked Questions Part 2

Back to Page 1

Q. Have sidings improved over the years?

We did siding jobs nearly 30 years ago that have held up great with absolutely no callbacks to date. That is pretty amazing considering the early products were not nearly equal to today's newer plastics. We are living in the generation of plastics. A car 30 years ago had very little today it is probably one third plastic. Technology moves forward and has given us many wonderful choices that were not available even a couple of years ago.

Q. What choices of styles do you carry?

Variety is wonderful and today you can get about any design you want including vertical, shakes, shingles, Dutch laps, brick, stone, board and batten, etc. No longer do you have to choose from the standard 8-10 colors. Today we offer everything from lights to darks, sold colors to multi-colors, and natural cedar colors that mimic nature. Widths run from 2-3/4" wide to 7". Actually vinyl is made in an 8 inch width(Alcoa and others)also, but I really cannot recommend it as the seams show up quite bad. The 7 inch width Craneboard has exceptionally tight seams by comparison and would get two thumbs up. The Centerlock siding panel has a unique interlock that gives it exceptional seams, and a very nice look for taller walls with a shadow line beneath each board. There are many very nice shake patterns available now. Nailite is a manufacturer of very nice shakes being a pioneer in the development of them. There are other cheaper brands of lesser quality with less detailing and features. There are new shake patterns coming on the market daily as the competition heats up and demand increases. I have recently seen a couple very good Nailite look alikes but at a similar price. All of our products have a limited lifetime warranty and some even warrant against any type of homeowner abuse. When we come out we bring a wide range of colors and styles and can custom tailor a siding package to fit your individual needs.

We have many years of experience putting all the design elements together to give your home a rich, tasteful, and architecturally correct look. We can create many custom siding details that include mixing patterns, installing fish scale or making custom sunburst patterns to adorn your gables.

Q. Do you carry vertical sidings?

Yes, in a wide range of colors and styles including board and batten.

Q. Is it affordable?

Vinyl siding is priced to fit most homeowner budgets. Today's leading manufacturers offer a broad range of vinyl siding products, so you can choose one that's right for you. Whichever you choose, you can expect the highest quality and lasting beauty. We also have periodical specials on bulk buys we make.

Q. What about maintenance?

Vinyl siding never needs painting or staining. And because it doesn't chip, peel, dent or rot, you can forget costly repairs. To maintain a like-new appearance, just rinse occasionally with a garden hose.
Warranty-backed. You can count on getting all the quality you paid for, because vinyl sidings are backed by a strong lifetime limited warranty.

Q. I live in a very high wind and water area...Is there anything extra you can do?

"I live in an area of hard driving wind and rain and want to be 100% certain no water gets through. What do I do?" Some places in Washington have what is considered "extreme" weather. Areas like Ocean Shores come to mind. There, wind can drive water up the walls causing many homeowners major problems that they haven't been able to stop with their wood siding. We have solved the problems of vertically wind driven rain by using Blue Skin Tape and Tyvek Builder's Wrap. Blue Skin Tape is vinyl on one side with tar/bitumen on the other. It generally comes 6" wide and bonds to anything. We use it to tape the window frames to the sheeting and/or to the Tyvek. The Tyvek is a waterproof vapor barrier used to prevent water damage to sheeting. Sometimes custom flashing is also needed to divert water, which we can make custom on site to exactly fill the need. We have the ability to put any fears of water damage to rest permanently.

Q. Do you cleanup after your jobs?

Yes. We will always do our best to keep the job site clean. We will also work in a manner to get the job done as efficiently as possible. It is a big job to completely reside a house, and it takes effort on the part of the installers to keep the job clean and organized. We will do our best to see that your plants and gardens are as undisturbed as possible. All of our installers are professionals.
